What Can Penis Pumps Do for You?

By design, the penis pump helps to draw blood into the penis making it as full and large as it can be. This is done using vacuum and it’s very effective.

Results come in a matter of seconds or minutes and temporary improvements from first time to infrequent use are typically noteworthy. Frequent and routine pumping can yield permanent gains in size and erection hardness; although, results will vary depending upon your health and condition.

Below is a list of potential benefits that can be had by using a penis pump:

  • Instant erections
  • Stronger erections
  • Improved blood flow to the penis
  • Improved sexual staying power
  • More length
  • More girth

Why You Might Need a Penis Pump

There a several reasons why penis pumps are a good choice for most men. It could be that your erections are not as stiff as they used to be. Another might be that increased penis hardness combined with the strong sucking sensation appeals to you. Whatever the reason, the penis pump is the only device that can do it all and with considerable safety too. When a little common sense is used, there are few reasons why the penis pump won’t work for you.

The following are reasons why you might consider pumping:

  • Mild to moderate erectile dysfunction
  • Loss of erection quality – hardness, thickness, etc.
  • Unsatisfied with penis size
  • Premature ejaculation issues
  • For mere pleasure

Pumping for Erectile Dysfunction

PRELIMINARY CONSIDERATIONS

The penis pump is ideal for dealing with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. However, those with severe impotency problems should consult with their doctors before pumping.

Sometimes erection issues can be more than just low testosterone or sex drive and could be an indicator of something more serious. Conditions such as arterial blockages or hardening of the arteries can lead to erectile dysfunction. That’s why it’s a good idea to get a check-up prior to turning to a penis pump for help.

INSTRUCTIONS

The following instructions can be used when maximum penis hardness is desired prior to sexual activity.

When addressing erectile dysfunction, it’s best to use a penis pump with no sleeve. This is done to limit the hindering effects of the sleeve itself. Pump sleeves are great for eliminating vacuum leaks but they can get in the way when removing the pump just before sex.

Penis pumps with a large flange around the base are preferred and shaving the area is required.

Step 1. Place the penis pump over your penis and gently pull your testicles downward to keep them safely out of the pump tube.

Step 2. Begin pumping slowly until your penis starts to get hard.

Step 3. Keep the pressure up until sufficient erection hardness is achieved.

Step 4. Release the vacuum, remove the pump, and enjoy.

Step 5 (optional). Place a cock-ring (also known as a constriction ring) around the base of your penis to help maintain the erection. If preferred, a larger cock-ring can be fitted around the penis and testicles and will work just as well. Do not leave the cock-ring in place for longer than 30 minute at a time.

Pumping for Size

A penis pump is a fine choice for both temporary and permanent gains in penis size.

When used infrequently, a penis pump can help to improve your erections and make your flaccid penis appear somewhat larger. These effects can last anywhere from several minutes to hours.

Permanent increases in length and girth can be had when pumping 3 to 4 times per week and not more than 20 minutes at a time. After a few weeks, the results are usually noticed in both an erect and non-erect state.

HOW MUCH SIZE CAN YOU GAIN?

Gaining several inches as some would have you believe is an unrealistic goal and should be taken lightly. While under a strong vacuum, your penis can expand as much as one inch in length and girth – for some, even more. However, once the pressure is equalized your penis will go back to something closer to your original size.

It is quite possible that in time you will build a certain amount of permanent length and girth but it will not happen over night. Only a weekly routine of placing your penis under a strong vacuum and expanding it to new proportions can potentially lead to measurable differences. The theory is that as the penis is stretched and pulled by the pump, it begins to accommodate the force placed upon it by developing itself further.

Size increases of 0.25 to 0.50 inches are considered relatively easy and can be had by adhering to a weekly pumping routine. Some claim to have gained an inch or more, and while possible, there are several factors that may determine if large gains can be attained; those factors are as follows:

  • Starting size
  • Amount of time spent pumping
  • Using effective pressures – not over and not under
  • Health and condition
  • Diet (supplements can help)
  • Use in conjunction with other techniques such as jelqing, extenders, or weight-hanging.

WHAT ABOUT AGE LIMITS?

Age does not seem to be a factor. As long as you are in good health, we see no reason why you can’t try penis enlargement using this method.

BE REALISTIC

One thing is certain, using a penis pump is fun and your erections will definitely benefit. Don’t expect miracles. Pump for the immediate benefit and the pleasure it brings and try not to worry too much about making giant gains in size.

Pumping for Fun

Aside from its more practical uses, a penis pump can be fun to use. The feeling that you get when your erection is at its largest and hardest is very stimulating and is much like that when you are at the height of arousal.

Those who are new to pumping might find that the suction can be overwhelming. The trick is to pay close attention to your body. When you feel an orgasm approaching, quickly release the pressure and take several deep breaths before resuming.

Using a penis pump can be considered a satisfying exercise for your penis without the sex act. For some, enlarging the penis under a vacuum triggers a physical response that is similar to masturbation or intercourse. When the penis is released from the vacuum and loses its erection, you may experience a phase that is very much like a post-orgasm recovery period.

Types of Penis Pumps

Even though all penis pumps work using the same principal (vacuum), they can be had in a variety of configurations. Below is a list with accompanying photos of all of the types of systems currently available:

DRY PUMPS. Products in this category use air only, are simple vacuum cylinders, and have been popular for many years. They may be manual or automatic type systems.

WET/WATER-BASED PUMPS. There are very few pumps that fall into this category in which water is used instead of air. As the water is expelled, a void is created around the penis; it then expands to fill that void. Two very popular systems are Penomet and Bathmate. These products are manual type systems.

MANUAL PUMPS. A manual pump is one that must be pumped by the user. With the exception of certain self-contained units, most manual pumps use an external hand-ball or grip-handle type pumping mechanism. For self-contained systems like the Penomet or Bathmate, the user must press down on the cylinder to create a vacuum.

AUTOMATIC PUMPS. Pumps in this category utilize an electric pump motor to make creating a vacuum fast and efficient. Regardless of having an internal/self-contained motor or an external one, the results are the same.

WITH and WITHOUT SLEEVES

Penis pumps may be designed to be used with or without a sleeve or gasket. Sleeves are intended to seal the pump to the body so that a strong vacuum can be maintained.

penis pump sleeve

Sleeves usually work pretty well at creating a good seal even when the area is unshaven. They can also help to keep your testicles from being sucked into the cylinder while isolating the penis.

The problem with sleeves is that they are prone to leaking especially if they are of the cheapo variety. It’s not uncommon for sleeves to crack or tear easily. Also, if the fit is not tight around the base of the cylinder then the sleeve may leak; making achieving adequate vacuum impossible.

Another problem with sleeves is that they can hinder your erection during removal. Without plenty of lubricant, a sleeve that is tight fitting around your penis will take some effort to remove. For that reason we suggest going sleeveless.

SLEEVES – THE GOOD and THE BAD

  • Helps seal the pump to the body even with hair
  • Helps keep your balls out of the pump
  • A lubricant is required
  • Prone to cracking and tearing
  • Poor fitting sleeves cause leaks
  • May hinder erection during removal

To pump without a sleeve, the pump should have a good sized flanged area on its base. This will make pumping more comfortable while also providing a good seal. The downside is that if there’s hair in the area then the pump may not seal properly.

penis pump flange

Some pump cylinders are designed specifically to be used without a sleeve; they have a large flange and come in different diameters for a superior fit around your penis. A good fitting cylinder eliminates concerns of having your testicles or more than just your penis drawn up inside of the tube. This effectively isolates the penis and makes for more productive pumping.

Sleeveless pumping may be preferred by those who are using the pump prior to sex. This allows you to remove the cylinder very quickly without any interruptions.

Pumps for Beginners

Contrary to what some may tell you, there really isn’t any one type of pump that is better for beginners. It basically boils down to budget. If you’re not sure if pumping is right for you and/or you don’t have much money to spend, then something in the $20 to $75 range would be a good choice. However, if your budget permits, then there are several great pumps in the $75 to $300 range.

BUYING TIPS

Get a pump that has a measurement scale on the side of the tube. This helps you see how well the pump is working and facilitates tracking your progress.

A built-in pressure gauge is a neat item to have but it’s not a necessity. Although the gauge will help you to monitor your pressures more accurately; you can do just as well by feel and by watching the scale on the pump cylinder.

Not all hand-ball style pumping mechanisms are created equal. Cheaper pumps that use this type of pumper are likely to provide less than adequate vacuum. It’s like they say, you get what you pay for!

Get a pump that can be used with or without a sleeve/gasket. The cylinder should have a decent sized base flange. This will allow you to try both configurations to see which one works best for you.
